As awards season progresses, the interior design community eagerly anticipate 30 November 2016 and the annual FX Interior Design Awards, to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane. Renowned by the industry for showcasing the best of international design excellence, this year two Overbury projects have been shortlisted for awards.

A popular critics’ choice, the diverse Wellcome Collection designed by architects WilkinsonEyre, is a strong contender for best Museum or Exhibition space. A previous winner of the AJ Retrofit Award for Cultural Buildings and the Civic Trust award, the Wellcome Trust’s Wellcome Collection is a series of exhibition spaces, studios, galleries and other visitor facilities, enhanced by a dramatic feature staircase that connects the spaces. The development has delivered a “bigger, bolder, braver Wellcome Collection”  by opening up 40% more exhibition space to the 550,000 annual visitors.

Shortlisted in the prestigious UK Project of the Year category is the £10 million refurbishment of Middlewood Court – AstraZeneca’s show-stopping office in the north-west of England, undertaken by interior design experts SpaceInvaders and Overbury.

The 80,000 sq ft project transformed a 1960’s manufacturing and packing facility into a world-class workspace that supports activity-based working for up to 1000 employees. The bright, modern workspace was designed to increase interactions and collaboration in the business, and included a central circulation staircase to provide greater connectivity across the business.
