The University of Liverpool was one of the first major universities to set up off campus, in London. We managed the project while raising nearly £7,000 for their charity partner, ‘Make a Wish’.

We refurbished and fitted out nine floors, creating lecture theatres, a library, an architectural studio, a kitchen, office space, ground-floor reception, meeting areas and toilet facilities for 1,300 students and 100 staff.

To raise money and awareness of ‘Make a Wish’, we provided branded hoardings and high-vis clothing and shoes for staff during the project. We also recreated the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing, put on a Beatles exhibition and hosted a sponsored games room with its own ‘wall of thanks. We even auctioned off equipment at the end of the project.

To minimise disruption, we carried out noisy work before 9am, encouraged contractors to use a nearby bike park, timed deliveries carefully and employed a traffic marshal. The project was awarded 41/50 in the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
