The greatest hits from Coldplay, Neil Diamond and Pharrell Williams were among the 40 songs featured at Overbury’s much anticipated charity music recently, which raised more than £14,000 for three nominated charities.

House band Ohio, starring Overbury’s operations director Gordon Wakeling on the drums, welcomed musicians from every corner of the fit out industry to perform in aid of Alzheimer’s Society, British Liver Trust and Diabetes UK. Whilst refreshments were served, five drummers, three bassists, singers, keyboardists, and even a saxophonist entertained a crowd of 600 late into the evening.

A minimum donation was requested on arrival, and generous sponsors from Overbury's supply chain contributed towards the venue hire and overhead costs to ensure that as much money was raised as possible.

The music event was the happy coincidence of a lunch meeting almost a decade ago, says Gordon Wakeling.

"We realised that we were surrounded by hidden musical talents and decided to celebrate them. The result has been phenomenal and each year the event grows," he continues, "in fact, this year, was a record year."

Overbury received the highest number of registrations since first hosting the event in 2008. Despite moving to the new setting in 2014, the company is now considering a larger venue for next year due to growing popularity.

Gordon Wakeling adds: "It's so wonderful to see the 'all out' support of our supply chain, clients and consultants every year for such good causes."

This year for the third time Overbury will also host a charity music night in Birmingham in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital. The event is on 2 December, for more information contact Amanda Franks.
