We worked with Epic Games to refurbish three floors in their Guildford office; creating a new reception, breakout space and meeting areas, along with a new training centre

Cutting edge training

The newly refurbished reception area leads to Epic Games’ pioneering training centre; designed to develop the skills of developers on Unreal, a game engine developed by Epic. Every learning space in the training centre needed access to a high-powered development machine, monitor and wired network.

As the refurbishment was undertaken in occupation, we worked during downtime in their fixed training schedule to ensure this space was finished for the start of their next training programme.

Dynamic meeting spaces

The layout of the first floor was altered to create a more dynamic space to facilitate different business needs and allow for international collaboration across Epic’s numerous offices.

A large meeting room was divided into two meeting spaces. A relaxed videoconference suite was balanced out with a traditional meeting area to allow for formal and informal international catch-ups.

Privacy

Privacy was paramount to this project. To provide visual and acoustic privacy, we installed double glazed frosted glass to the meeting rooms, phone booths were built to allow staff to take calls in private.

On the second floor, we created new offices, upgraded the tea point and installed a games-focussed breakout space.

Behind the scenes

Mechanical and Electrical alterations can often be a forgotten element of a project, hidden behind suspended ceilings and floating flooring.

To facilitate the new building layout, M&E modifications were required. As staff were still working in the space during the refurbishment, noisy works and M&E alterations were undertaken out of hours to minimise disruption.
