We delivered this innovation hub for a national media provider in Brentwood, Essex. The project delivered office space for over 200 employees, along with breakout spaces, collaboration areas and high-tech broadcasting and technical test facilities across four floors.
A grand entrance
The foyer welcomes both staff and guests to the 42,000 sq ft office with a modern industrial vibe. The ceiling retains a polished concrete finish with exposed services, however the flooring is contrasted with plush blue rugs and the clean, sleek finish of the reception desk.
A multi-functional breakout space
The reception space opens onto an open plan staff canteen that doubles as a space for informal working and catch-ups. Coloured ceiling rafts are used to inject the space with extra vibrancy and also absorb excess acoustics from the communal area.
The ground floor then continues to house flexible meeting spaces that can either be used for smaller meetings, or opened up to create a large meeting space or hospitality suite - opening out onto the canteen area.
Functional meeting spaces
The first and second floors of the office house various breakout spaces, collaboration zones, meeting rooms and storage spaces for the agile workforce. This allows staff to move around the office, working from an area that complements their current task at hand. There's a mixture of touchdown desks, workstations, and casual working areas; never more than a few steps from cutting-edge connectivity.
Acoustic ceiling rafts were used to absorb excess acoustics from the different work areas, and prevent additional reverberation caused from the exposed concrete ceiling.
Being a media company, AV connectivity was a paramount requirement that needed to be easily accessible in meeting spaces across the office. All meeting rooms and even the open-plan breakout spaces feature wall-mounted screens and integrated speaker systems. This allows staff to easily broadcast content when a bigger screen is required.
We also installed a satellite farm on the roof to aide with the firm's ultra-fast connectivity between the UK, Italy and Germany.
