From Edinburgh to Bristol and of course London's Charing Cross, we've delivered multiple offices for PwC, providing a base for the bright minds in audit and advisory.
Overbury worked with PwC to fit out over 450,000 sq ft of office space at Embankment Place, London. This was a major project and was completed over 93 weeks with 2,000 staff remaining in occupation during the project.
The project sought to revitalise their existing offices and introduce new ways of working; providing staff with the facilities to adopt a more agile approach to working.
The refurbishment of PwC’s HQ surpassed all BREEAM achievements to date by achieving a landmark 96.31% Outstanding score and is the world's greenest building. Situated above Charing Cross station, the 450,000 square foot building is a technically complex structure ‘hung’ from nine tied arches with cantilevers on both sides, all sitting on 35m deep piles.
Two scenic lifts were installed on the North side to transport visitors to a seminar suite, meeting rooms, and business lounge on the first level and executive meeting and dining spaces on the ninth. A cantilevered staircase was constructed on the South side, connecting the staff floors. Agile-based working was provided via 3,150 workstations for 4,500 staff, operated through a ‘hoteling’ system.
PwC aspired to create a workplace that promoted greater collaboration and that encouraged a shared sense of belonging amongst staff. Their aim was also to provide a fun and energising workspace that everybody would be proud to work in.
The new space includes an impressive new client lounge and meeting suites, all with a Bristol-themed name including ‘Banksy’, ‘Wallace & Gromit’, ‘Brunel’ and ‘Rowling’. There is also an exceptional loft staff breakout and presentation area on the top floor that embraces the fabulous views across the historic buildings of Bristol, from the external terrace alongside the River Avon.
This 32,000 sq ft workspace was awarded the Scottish BCO award for fit out of workplace and was lauded for the in-depth involvement of PwC staff in creating a ‘transformational’ new space.
The fit out comprised a large open plan area to facilitate over 400 staff as well as the creation of meeting rooms, collaborative spaces and a dedicated staff area.
The design embodies the ‘One Firm, One Space, One Future' objective set out by PwC at the beginning of the project through creating a space where staff can grow and where they can work in a variety of different ways.
