Project description

The Francis Crick Institute, located in the heart of London next to Kings Cross, is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Overbury is proud to be the Francis Crick’s Development Partner and we have delivered over 450 programmes of work for the institute since 2020.

Part of the DNA

Our first project was part of their Space Utilisation project where we completed the fit out of office space on level one, collaboration/hubs on levels two to five, tissue culture lab, Serology CL3 Lab, shower rooms and fume cupboards. The project created a new way of working for Francis Crick, with new open plan spaces, quiet booths, private office units and flexible meeting rooms.

Researching the logistics

Working inside an occupied research environment means no power or ventilation interruptions are allowed at any time, so careful planning of logistics after thorough validations were and continue to be essential.

Since 2017, we have been active on site and our projects have included a variety of research and workspaces. We have delivered a new aquatics lab, COVID testing and vaccination facilities and various laboratories.
