Home Case studies Julius Bär
We recently completed a Cat B fit out for Julius Baer, a private banking corporation, at their new headquarters in Bleeding Heart Yard, Farringdon. This intricate project spanned just over 27,000 sq ft across six floors and showcases elements of the building's façade in its interior design, earning it the nickname "Windows of the Past".
Julius Baer's new Cat B office space in Farringdon showcases an internal design that draws inspiration from the building's façade. A significant part of the project involved unveiling the building's core structure and exposed services, notably creating deliberate gaps in plasterboard to reveal the original brickwork.
A pivotal stage in the construction of Julius Baer's office involved the installation of an elegantly crafted spiral staircase made from solid oak. Through close collaboration with structural engineers, the project team skilfully navigated potential challenges and created space in the ground floor ceiling to seamlessly incorporate this striking staircase. Custom Barrisol lighting was carefully integrated above the staircase, with Overbury addressing any potential health and safety concerns to ultimately achieve the desired aesthetic envisioned by the client.
The project also encompassed various other elements, including high-security glazing for the roof lights, the use of living concrete to harmonise with the existing building, a sizable 140" presentation screen in the seating area adjacent to the reception, acoustic baffles around desk spaces and advanced audio-visual systems in the boardroom areas. To overcome logistical challenges, a crane was employed for the installation of heavy glazing and marble countertops, circumventing the constraints posed by having only one small lift.
As the project neared completion, the final touches were carried out while Julius Baer began occupying the space. We demonstrated flexibility and worked diligently to minimise disruptions to Julius Baer's operations during this crucial phase.
