Home Case studies ITV West Country
ITV West Country’s new 8,000 sq ft broadcast facility in Bristol provides a new environment that powers live regional production across the South West. Delivered as part of ITV’s national technology upgrade programme, the works enhanced studio capability while cameras kept rolling.
We delivered the fit out of ITV West Country’s new broadcasting facility within an empty shell space adjacent to their existing studios. Throughout the works, live broadcasts continued several times a day at the old studio, so full control over noise, vibration and sequencing was essential.
The main studio forms the heart of the facility and needed specialist finishes and technology. Sound treated walls, acoustic soffits and specialist vinyl flooring deliver the performance required for broadcast, while also providing a perfectly level surface for camera movement.
Alongside the studio, we built a production control room, newsroom, editing suite, voiceover booth, meeting rooms, kitchen and changing facilities, with extensive wardrobe storage for on air talent. The open plan office and meeting spaces provide a flexible setting for teams, and ITV’s identity was embedded through brand colours and bespoke graphics.
Throughout the programme, works were tightly sequenced around transmission schedules, with enhanced noise control measures in place to maintain silence during broadcasts.
A complete power shutdown of the whole building was needed to connect new electrical supplies. This was carefully planned with extensive communication, contingency arrangements and on site presence during power restoration to safeguard live broadcast output.
The completed facility gives ITV an improved and technically advanced environment that reflects its brand and helps it continue bringing the region’s stories to life now and in the future.
