Key features

  • Flexible and adaptable design
  • Inclusive and collaborative spaces
  • Sustainability focused furniture reuse
  • Bespoke Yorkshire themed artwork

Due to ongoing expansion, Mills & Reeve relocated to a larger floor within their existing building at 1 City Square in Leeds. The new space offered an opportunity to reconfigure their office into a modern, flexible and inclusive environment that not only reflects their commitment to sustainability but also celebrates their Yorkshire heritage.

The goal was to create a workplace that improves innovation, collaboration and agility, whilst providing a destination that colleagues are proud to bring clients to and work from. By working to Mills & Reeve’s corporate workspace guidelines, we developed a space that inspires ownership and Yorkshire pride.

A space for all needs

The office layout was designed with flexibility at its core. The client suite features meeting rooms that can transform into an events space by simply opening movable partition walls. This adaptability ensures the space is suitable for both private discussions and larger gatherings.

Meeting rooms are uniquely designed with bespoke light fittings and clocks, giving each a distinct character. A standout feature is the bespoke mural wall, showcasing Leeds’ rich history and vibrant present, serving as a reminder of the firm’s strong regional connections.

A hub for collaboration and socialising

At the heart of the office is a large central social space where staff can relax, collaborate and enjoy informal interactions. Positioned to maximise the stunning views of Leeds city centre and adjacent City Square, this area is a focal point for staff and visitors alike.

The strategic choice to remain in Bond Court supports Mills & Reeve’s travel strategy, encouraging the use of nearby public transport options like the railway station and bus services. Cyclists are also catered for with changing facilities in the basement, further supporting sustainable commuting options.

Sustainability and circular economy in action

Mills & Reeve’s commitment to sustainability was a driving force throughout the project. By reusing furniture, they upheld their circular economy goals while optimising resources. This approach not only minimised waste but also allowed the budget to focus on enhancing other elements of the fit out.

A destination to inspire

Mills & Reeve’s new office provides an exceptional experience for staff and clients alike, supporting the firm’s strategy for growth and innovation. With its flexible features and people centric focus, this new workplace sets a benchmark for modern office environments in the region that its design celebrates.
