Home News Arup Sheffield moves into Grade A offices
Saturday, 7th May 2016
The Arup Sheffield office has moved to 3 St Paul’s Place, a new grade A office development in the heart of Sheffield City Centre.
The relocation of the engineering consultancy underpins Arup’s commitment to Sheffield with a history of almost 60 years’ in the city since first opening in 1957. The timing also comes as a result of the office’s growth and success in recent years, with the workforce now exceeding 130 people.
Arup has successfully secured the top 9th and 8th floors of the building, with the addition of a private roof terrace, with stunning views over the city and out to the surrounding Peak District.
Arup appointed Overbury to fit out and deliver a workspace that would set a new benchmark for the City and one that would inspire staff and clients.
Jim Bell, Director of the Sheffield Office said: “Our expanding business in Sheffield requires high-quality spaces for our staff and to welcome our clients from across the region, providing increased opportunity to collaborate with our clients in the delivery of their projects. We are delighted to be moving to the new development and look forward to welcoming our clients and colleagues to the new facilities.”
The new office promotes a move to more collaborative working with an agile desk policy, high-tech meeting rooms to facilitate international working and using BIM models, plus more flexible and break out spaces to encourage knowledge-sharing and teamwork across the disciplines.
The scheme is on target to achieve a SKA Gold rating, which is an environmental assessment method, benchmark and standard for non-domestic fit-outs, in keeping with the company’s ethos of leading on sustainability. SKA Rating also features as part of the UK Government's Low Carbon Action Plan.
Philip Westwood, director of Overbury, commented: “Arup is one of our key partners so when we were invited to fit out the company’s own office space, we wanted to ensure that the project illustrated the quality of work we deliver together.
“Working hand in hand with Arup, we have created an impressive fit out that will significantly improve the way the company operates.”
