Home Case studies British Airways
The refurbishment of British Airways' largest UK contact centre creates a workplace that matches the strength of its global brand and puts its people at the centre of the design.
We were appointed to deliver a full refurbishment of British Airways’ largest UK contact centre at Bamburgh Court in Newcastle, transforming it to reflect the high end customer experience associated with its airport lounges and global travel offering.
Throughout the project, we helped British Airways maintain uninterrupted customer service and move seamlessly into the new workplace without impacting its high service standards.
A remodelled entrance echoes the feel of a premium airport lounge to create an unmistakably British Airways welcome. The rest of the ground floor has been reimagined as a hub for connection, with a town hall space, café area and training suites supporting everything from day to day collaboration to larger group events.
Graphics featuring local landmarks and phrases help the branding strike a balance between British Airways’ global identity and the office’s Newcastle roots. The training suite immediately immerses new employees in the British Airways brand through subtle aviation references, including curved forms and aircraft style window details.
While the wider workplace is classic British Airways in its identity and branding, wellbeing spaces have been intentionally left unbranded to clearly separate them from the working environments.
Accessible circulation routes, prayer rooms, gender neutral facilities and a dedicated first aid room help embed inclusivity throughout, ensuring every employee feels supported. The top floor incorporates private booths for time out and one to one coaching for customer facing teams.
By combining premium brand cues with spaces designed for wellbeing, British Airways now has an environment that reflects the quality of its customer offering and supports its colleagues with the same level of care and attention.
