Project description

Fidelis set out with clear expectations for their new space with a desired outcome of an office that enhances employee satisfaction and wellbeing. To achieve this, we delivered a complete redesign and reconfiguration of their current Bishopsgate office space. The catalyst for change was the realisation that the existing layout lacked efficiency and failed to reflect the Fidelis corporate identity. There was also a requirement for a space that accommodates two distinct occupants on the same floor whilst maintaining a flow between the offices. One challenge highlighted by the client was the need to minimise noise disruption during the project because of occupants still using the floor below.

Tropical delivery

In response to the client's brief, we devised a comprehensive solution that addressed both functional and aesthetic aspects. We delivered a layout that included the installation of new partitions, joinery and curved glass but also integrates breakout spaces and informal meeting areas. Drawing inspiration from the client's head office in Bermuda, the design of the office was unique and featured several design statement pieces. One of the standout features of our delivery was the incorporation of a large terrarium in the main reception, housing live tropical plants. To accompany the aesthetic changes, we also made a series of mechanical and electrical service upgrades throughout the floor space that will further enhance the physical wellbeing of being back in the office.

Occupied works

During the works, to mitigate noise disruption, we implemented an acoustic walkway across the floor for material and plant movement. We established direct communication channels with the occupants of the floor below to ensure they could continue to operate as usual and we could plan for any noisy works.

Meeting the brief

Fidelis' new office not only meets their functional requirements but by delivering a blend of open plan work areas, meeting suites and social breakout spaces, we have enabled collaboration among staff members. With our proactive approach to noise management, there was minimal disruption to their operations. The refurbished office space enhances employee engagement and delivers a renewed enthusiasm for coming into the workplace, a key driver for the Fidelis.
