LIPS needed a flagship space that showcased their expertise in private healthcare. As a new company owned by consultants, they were transitioning from rented spaces to a permanent home at the prestigious Battersea Power Station, a landmark regeneration project. LIPS required a premium fit out that delivered various healthcare settings, including a front-of-house area with a private pharmacy and retail space, as well as consultation rooms and diagnostic equipment such as X-ray scanners. Their brief to us was clear: create a sophisticated and functional environment that supports their vision of providing leading healthcare services while enhancing the patient experience.

Delivering in occupation

Key to delivering on LIPS' brief was the successful delivery of project in occupation. Working within the live environment of a bustling shopping centre presented challenges, but we managed these effectively. We adhered to strict site rules, such as no PPE in public areas and restricted noisy working hours, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding businesses and customers. Additionally, we navigated the Battersea Power Station’s permit-to-work system and special fire procedures, maintaining safety and compliance throughout the project. A particular project highlight was the installation of bespoke glass shopfront signage and timber veneer panelling up to six metres in height to create the elegant and premium look that LIPS were after.

Rooted in practicality and adaptability

We offered practical design solutions to optimise the space's functionality. Our flexible approach meant we could support client changes mid-project without impacting the agreed programme duration. This adaptability was crucial in delivering a space that met all of LIPS’s requirements. We supported them through each phase without extending the project timeline. We understood that LIPS had limited construction experience, so we guided them through the process with a simplified approach, making the experience comfortable and stress-free.

Collaboration was key to our success. We held fortnightly commercial workshops with Exigere, the quantity surveyor, and multiple trade-specific design team meetings to ensure everyone was aligned and working towards the same goal. To encourage strong relationships, we also organised two project social events, creating a cohesive and motivated team atmosphere.

Enhancing communities in and around Battersea

Our commitment to social value was demonstrated through monthly donations to a local food bank and providing hi-vis vests to a local scouts group. These initiatives highlighted our dedication to supporting the community alongside our construction efforts.

Strong relations, flexible delivery, happy client

LIPS were delighted with the outcome. This project, being their first, was a significant milestone and a personal journey for them. The fit out at Battersea Power Station provided them with a high-end healthcare retail and consultation unit, perfectly aligned with their brand and operational needs. The bespoke glass shopfront and impressive timber veneer panelling created a visually stunning environment.

LIPS appreciated our flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively, which ensured the project was completed on time and to their high standards. The new space has enhanced their ability to deliver exceptional healthcare services, leaving a positive impact on both their patients and staff. The co-founders, Ibraheim El-Daly and Paul Culpan, praised our team’s dedication, support, teamwork, communication, professionalism and efficiency, stating that they would not hesitate to recommend our services to others.
