Leading global law firm Reed Smith’s move to 1 Blossom Yard presented a unique opportunity to revitalise their workplace, uniting a newly built structure with a converted timber warehouse to create a single, sophisticated headquarters. With a mix of private offices, communal hubs and flexible working spaces, the design prioritises connectivity, collaboration and wellbeing.

With a lease expiry deadline looming, we worked with Reed Smith and their new landlord to ensure a seamless transition; the fit out was carefully phased, with the project completed in multiple sections to fit their move in schedule.

A workplace united

We carried out a full Cat B fit out across 114,000 sq ft, transforming two distinct buildings into a unified legal workplace. To boost connectivity, a striking three storey staircase was installed in the interconnecting lightwell and access routes were improved to enhance movement between spaces.

A variety of spaces were created to cater for different working styles, including private offices, flexible meeting rooms, multi purpose areas, boardrooms and a library. Fabric panelling, specialist ceiling treatments and sound masking systems were installed throughout to reduce noise disruption and ensure privacy.

Wellness spaces were also installed to offer a place to recharge, while communal hubs and two large garden terraces provide opportunities for social interaction, as does a restaurant with high quality amenities.

Working together to deliver on time

With limited base build information available, we worked closely with Reed Smith’s team to validate all services and align the fit out with the existing infrastructure to ensure there were no delays. A phased handover approach, with nine sectional completions, allowed for a smooth transition.

Weekly stakeholder meetings enabled real time decision making across different time zones, while close coordination with the landlord’s facilities team ensured seamless integration with campus logistics, security and waste management.

Ready for the future

Delivered against a strict deadline, Reed Smith’s new London office balances tradition with innovation, delivering a high performance, future proofed environment that supports both collaboration and focused legal work. With two buildings integrated into a single, cohesive headquarters, they now have a sophisticated space that not only meets the firm’s needs today but will continue to serve them well into the future.
