Overbury worked with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to reconfigure half a floor of their recently completed and occupied Student Centre in Preston. The project has created a new open plan space for the Vice Chancellor Group right in the heart of the campus, providing greater visibility and connections to students and staff.
I’ve worked with Overbury for a long time. I had total trust that you would deliver to the client’s standards and requirements.
The University are challenging themselves with this project – it is an entirely new way of working for them. They wanted a construction partner that understood their challenges, would be sympathetic to their concerns and could manage change quickly and easily.
The project opened up the space as internal walls were stripped away and seamless floor finishes were introduced to visually connect the whole floor. New feature glazed screens complement the existing spiral staircase. Meeting rooms were adapted with the creation of movable walls to inject flexibility. Bespoke joinery creates a new welcome experience at the reception, including the built-in cloak cupboards and storage. Feature lighting and furniture pull the space together.
New showers support wellness. Existing acoustic baffles were repositioned with additional elements brought in to complement the existing sound management.
