Fit Out Industry Talent Key to Music Night Success

The 2019 Fit Out Charity Music Night in London raised £25,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity and Movember Foundation.

The sold-out gig for more than 900 guests was held at London’s famous nightclub, Ministry of Sound, and featured performers and musicians from the fit out industry alongside Overbury’s own band, OHIO.

“The support we've had is overwhelming,” said Gordon Wakeling, resident drummer and Operations Director at Overbury.

Over the years, the London music night has raised more than £165,000 for 21 charities including; Just4Children, Teenage Cancer Trust, Make-A-Wish, Shooting Star Chase, Alzheimer’s Society, British Liver Trust and Diabetes UK.

“It’s been a fantastic few months working with the most talented people in our industry to rehearse and perfect the set list,” said Wakeling.

“We are a talented industry, and not just when it comes to fit out! Every year I am amazed by the musical talent who audition to take part.”

“We’ve had this event for more than a decade and have raised more than £165,000 for charities in that time. Thank you to every musician, fan and sponsor who came to the event, without you we’d be playing cover songs in our garage.”

“This event is always a great night in support of fantastic charities, but it also gives everyone a chance to mingle with the wider industry in support of a good cause.”

The chosen charities for 2019 were Movember Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity – both of which are close to the hearts of people at Overbury.

“At our first music night we had 150 guests,” said Wakeling. “Now 12 years later we have sold over 1,000 tickets for charity, what a wonderful supportive industry we work in.”

Earlier in November, the 7th annual Birmingham charity music night was held raising £3,000 for NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders as well as the Manchester music night for Ronald McDonald House Charities and Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People raising £2,600.
