Overbury delivers first project in new University of Warwick framework

Overbury’s Birmingham-based team has completed the first project as part of the University of Warwick’s new five-year building refurbishment framework.

Overbury has completed the fit out and refurbishment of eight lecture theatres and an M&E and plant room in the Faculty of Social Sciences buildings. Works included the configuration of new tiered and collaborative bench-style seating, curved and angular lighting and the installation of other technical equipment.

The project was delivered in partnership with architects Berman Guedes Stretton, and engineering consultancy Couch Perry Wilkes.

It is the first project to be commissioned by the University of Warwick through a new framework, which will deliver design and build projects focused on the development and refurbishment of the Russell Group University’s existing estate.

Overbury will work in partnership with Warwick on its ambitious plans to “create a campus of the future”, offering world-class facilities to students, staff and visitors.

Penelope Mitchell, business development manager, Overbury, said: “We are proud to have delivered the first project through the University of Warwick’s building refurbishment framework. It is hugely exciting to be given the opportunity to continue our successful relationship with Warwick and to play a significant role in shaping world leading learning environments at such a prestigious public research university.

“Overbury has vast experience of delivering innovative and collaborative fit out and refurbishment projects for higher education clients throughout the UK, including multiple lecture theatres, classrooms and study areas for the likes of King’s College London, City University London, Aston University and University of Westminster. Colleges and universities trust us for our unique expertise in their field, which is why over half of our work in the sector comes from repeat business.”

David Hammond, capital programme director, University of Warwick, said: “The university are delighted to appoint Overbury to the framework. The framework will provide a vehicle to realise best value from our supply chain partners in terms of service, innovation and sustainability and through an established partnership, enable continuous learning to ensure projects are delivered to the high level of standards expected by our students and staff in a safe and cost effective manner.

“The success of Overbury’s first project with the University awarded under this new framework, delivered on time and within budget, demonstrates the value of our continued relationship with Overbury and the value of the framework arrangements.”

Overbury has delivered several projects on behalf of the University of Warwick in the past ten years. They include the internal refurbishment of University House and the Ramphal Building, the five-phase refurbishment of Senate House, two projects at the Warwick School of Business and the repurposing of existing space at the School of Engineering into high-spec laboratories.

The office fit out and refurbishment specialist is one of three providers to be selected as part of the five-year building refurbishment framework.
