Home News Overbury hosts Women in Construction Breakfast with Winter Olympic athletes
Wednesday, 1st April 2026
Winter Olympic athletes, Lizzy Yarnold and Chemmy Alcott, inspired more than 70 women and allies at Overbury’s Women in Construction breakfast, sharing powerful stories of resilience, mindset and performance from their elite sporting careers.
Overbury was delighted to host a Women in Construction breakfast event, bringing together professionals from across the fit out industry for a morning of inspiration, connection and conversation.
Inspiring stories from Lizzy Yarnold and Chemmy Alcott
Lizzy Yarnold and Chemmy Alcott, Olympic Winter athletes brought energy, honesty and motivation to the room as they spoke openly about their journeys in elite sport. Their talks explored far more than medals and success, shining a light on the challenges, setbacks and moments of self‑doubt they faced and how resilience and determination helped them move forward.
Their stories strongly resonated with the audience, highlighting how mindset, performance under pressure and perseverance are just as relevant in construction and the built environment as they are in professional sport. The warmth and authenticity they shared sparked reflection, discussion and a real sense of shared experience across the room.
Raising funds for the NSPCC
The Women in Construction breakfast raised vital funds for the NSPCC, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and attendees. We’re grateful to our inspiring speakers, Lizzy Yarnold and Chemmy Alcott and to everyone who helped make the morning such a success.
